"Just when I thought that I was out they pull me back in."
-Michael Corleone, Famous line from the Godfather III (I love the II more than the other two).
Michael Corleone said this not wanting to be back in his old ways but still did because of circumstances and not of his choice. Well you're probably asking what has this got to do with Real Estate?
Let me share to you what happened to me and I believe most of my fellow Realtors would appreciate this.
My previous posting entitled "more than the money" I was talking about a friend of mine that I helped out in getting a good deal with a builder in Sparks and all that time I was technically OUT of the picture because he signed in initially without me (builders will not pay commission if the agent is not with the client in the first visit). Which at first was a real a bummer but after a while I really did not mind helping and advising him. Helping others even if you know you won't get paid allows me to work with passion and purpose, And of course I wanted to help out a friend.
Well, all this time I had totally accepted that fact (even wrote about it already, that I wasn't making anything on the deal) but my friend continued to call me looking for more answers to his questions. But I was quite certain that he was going to close the new house in Sparks, boy was I wrong.
One Friday afternoon he called me and told me he wanted to look at the models by the Southwest. I told him that I would love to go with him even after he told me that I didn't need to because he just wants to look and more than likely not buy, boy was he wrong.
To cut the long story short. He fell in love with a new home in Damonte Ranch, South Reno.
We offered $30,000 less than the asking price and we GOT IT! It was standing Inventory and ready to close with a bonus if we close on October. The new home in Damonte served all my friend's needs and wants (Needs a closer location than the Sparks house, Brand New, Same or Cheaper Price, Ready to Move-in).
My friend JoAnn Corriera once told me, "continue to deposit in the SKY BANK and later on you will get to withdraw."
You see, before Ian and I heard this quote from JoAnn. We also had our fair share of mistakes. Sometimes, being too 'commission-oriented' . We are grateful that this does not happen in our group anymore. We realized that in the long run it is still much more profitable to do things in the best interest of our clients no matter what the cost. Nothing beats that whether emotionally or financially.
Today, October 9,2007 Kim Encallado and Joann Mercado closed on their Brand New Home in Damonte Ranch. Kim's great appreciation (which he left on my voice mail and when we spoke minutes after they got their keys) was really rewarding definitely worth way "more than the money"....
Congratulations Kim and Joanna you guys used me as your agent "just when I thought I was out..."
